Niavaran Palace Complex - Tehran
Niavaran Palace was in fact the famous Qajar king’s, Naser al-Din Shah, summer resort which was later expanded by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The main Niavaran Palace was completed in 1968, which was supposed to be a reception hall for royal guests, but changed into the royal residence later. The king and his royal family lived here until the Islamic revolution in 1979.

The building is allocated to libraries in three separate levels the reading room, the main library, and the audio visual room. In addition, the library includes an underground basement for storing paintings and other artifacts. Other sections of the library include sets of artwork, which number over 350. The works reflect parts of modern art history, particularly the modern tendencies of Iranian art in the 1950s and 1960s.

This structure which bears the name of the garden, Niavaran, is about 9000 square meters and is composed of two and a half stores. The decoration is inspired by Islamic and pre-Islamic elements such as mirror work, stucco, and tilework.

Qajar kings had a pleasure-loving attitude, so they built several great palaces in their capital, Tehran. So, Fathali Shah ordered to build a palace in this garden. But in 1985, Mohammad Reza Shah decided to build a brand new palace instead of the old one. At first, this palace was used to welcome foreign visitors, but eventually, the Pahlavi Family took the residence. During the years, other parts were added to the complex.
