Navid Mohammadzadeh was picked as best actor at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival for his role in Iranian director Hooman Seyyedi’s “Sheeple”, the organizers announced on Saturday.

He shared the award with Danish actor Dar Salim for “Until We Fall” at the closing ceremony, which was held in the Estonian capital city of Tallinn.

“Sheeple” is about Shahin, a loud-mouthed fellow adopted years ago, who tries to establish his authority in a family run by the iron hand of his drug lord brother.

In the First Feature Competition of the festival, Iranian director Nima Salehyar’s debut “Kejal” won the NETPAC Award.  The film is about a 26-year-old Kurdish woman, a student from Tehran, who takes on what is traditionally considered as a “man’s job” after her brother has been killed in a smuggling operation on the dangerous Iraq-Iran border.
“Wandering Girl” by Ruben Mendoza from Colombia won the Grand Prix for Best Film while Jang Woo-Jin from South Korea was picked as best director for “Winter’s Night”.

“Winter’s Night” also brought Young-hwa Seo the best actress award.
