The filming location of 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God' by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi has turned into a popular tourist attraction drawing many movie lovers.

A number of the scenes from the epic were filmed in Bonud village that became a tourist attraction of Asalouyeh in Iran's southern province of Bushehr.

Bushehr is famous for its tourist attractions, with the industrial county of Asalouyeh being one of them.

Due to numerous visits by tourists to the location following the screening of the film, the pristine village of Bonud was included in the list of the must-see sites in Asalouyeh which has many natural attractions such as Hara forests.

'Muhammad: The Messenger of God' portrays the life of Islam's Holy Prophet (PBUH) and narrates his early years in Mecca. This is the first part of a trilogy which seeks to cover the entire life of the Prophet (PBUH).

A number of internationally-acclaimed professionals, including Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker, Scott E. Anderson, and three-time Oscar-winning Italian director of photography, Vittorio Storaro, collaborated in making the film.

The movie attracted large audiences in Iranian cinemas as well as in other countries, including Russia, Turkey, Iraq and Azerbaijan.

The screenplay of the film, which is the biggest-budget production in Iranian cinema, was co-written by Majidi and Kambozia Partovi.
