According to ifilmtv.ir, the festival will continue until December 16. Iranian documentary 'For Freedom' by Hossein Torabi opened the 12th edition of the festival on Sunday.

12 Iranian cineastes, including Babak Hamidian and Farhad Aslani, are among the cast and crew of some 71 documentaries participating at the national competition section of the festival.
Cannes-winning documentary 'Samouni Road' by Stefano Savona is also up for screening in the event.

Iran's House of Documentary is reportedly taking part in the festival with eight documentaries.
Organized by the Art and Experimental Cinema, the first edition of the Cinéma Vérité was held in 2007.

Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran's documentary film calendar.
The organizers of the festival said this year's edition is being held concurrently in the cities of Isfahan, Bushehr, Tabriz, Sari and Shiraz in addition to Tehran.

Italian documentarian Gianfranco Pannone to hold workshops at Cinéma Vérité

Italian documentarian Gianfranco Pannone will be in Tehran next week to hold workshops on dramaturgy in documentary films during the 12th Cinéma Vérité festival, the organizers announced on Monday.

Pannone is a graduate of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, the Italian national film school in Rome.

“Red Sunrise”, “Waste in Freedom. The Incredible Adventure of Nuclear in Italy”, “Oil, Miracles and Stones”, “On the Volcano”, “The World’s Smallest Army” and “Leave the Saints Alone” are among his credits.

His films have won accolades in several Italian and international festivals, including the Locarno International Film Festival and London International Documentary Film Festival.

His latest documentary “Mondo Za” will also go on screen at the Cinéma Vérité festival.

The film focuses on the life of Cesare Zavattini, an Italian screenwriter and one of the first theorists of Italian neorealist cinema.

A large group of cineastes from across the globe have been invited to attend the Cinéma Vérité festival, which will take place at Tehran’s Charsu Cineplex from December 9 to 16.

Fifteen directors and programmers of international film festivals, including the founder and programmer of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Doug Hawes-Davis from the U.S. and the programmer of the Parnu International Documentary and Anthropology Film Festival, Vaiko Edur, from Estonia, have been invited.

The director of the Kasseler Dokfest, Gerhard Wissner Ventura, from Germany, and the director of the Moscow International Documentary Film Festival DOKer, Irina Shatalova, are also among the invitees.
