Covered Passages

Related to Yazd city (located in Yazd province)
One of the noticeable features of the old province of Yazd and many other desert cities in Iran are roofed and covered lanes and passages. The reason behind designing and constructing these is to shelter and protect people against heat, harsh sun-shine and hot seasonal winds. In order to further secure the residents of the blind-alleys enjoying penthouse, this arrangement with a strong door, called "darband" was installed, such examples being Aqa'eeha, Dr. Alaee's Lane and the Bajevardi Lard Darbands (bolts).
The city of Yazd is located to the north of Ardestan, to the south of Taft in the east of Bafq and to the west of Esfahan province.
