These mountains run in an east to west direction, and form the natural borders of Gilan, Mazandaran and Zanjan provinces. Cheshm Chal is one of the peaks in this region that has an elevation of more than 4,500 m. and is covered with snow and permanent glaciers. To northern slopes of which is the Eich waterfall.

Possibly the most scenic spot on the Caspian coast, Ramsar is where the jungle-clad lower ridges of the snow-topped Alborz tumble into the sea. It's a verdant, photogenic area, lush with orange groves, and there are walking trails into the nearby hills.
