Ghadamgah cave, a 1200 year old place (located in Badamyar, Azarshahr which is called qadamgah temple, too) is a location for Mithraism ceremony. This place was used as a temple in pre-Islamic periods. After Islam, it was used as a mosque.

Qadamgah Temple (Ghadamgah Cave and currently Ghadamgah Mosque) is a 1200 year old cave located south of Azar-Shahr near the village of Badamyar in East Azerbaijan province. This cave resembles a circular basement with a radius of 15m. The altar or mosque of the cave is arched and is from the Safavid period. But it is similar to current architecture. At present this cave is utilized for religious ceremonies.

This temple or mosque of cave is located at the upstream of Ghadamgah’s graveyard, near Badamyar village, from environs of Azarshahr in west Azerbaijan province.

This place was used as a temple in pre-Islamic periods. After Islam, it was used as a mosque with villagers and tourists often carrying out religious ceremonies of the months of Muharram and Ramadan at this place.
